A Wife for Jacob

After fleeing from his brother, Jacob arrived at the land of his uncle Laban and fell in love with Laban’s beautiful daughter, Rachel. He agreed to work for Laban for seven years to earn her hand in marriage, but on the wedding night, Laban tricked him into marrying the older sister, Leah, instead. When Jacob confronted his uncle, Laban explained the custom of marrying the older daughter first but offered Rachel as a second wife in exchange for another seven years of labor. Jacob agreed, marrying Rachel a week later and serving a total of fourteen years, loving Rachel much more than Leah.
