The Great Flood

More and more people were on the earth. They continued to disobey God and make bad choices. God decided he needed to get rid of this sin and wickedness. He decided to cover the earth with a great flood. There was one man left who obeyed God. His name was Noah. God told Noah the earth would be covered with a flood. God told Noah how to build a big boat called an ark. The ark would hold everybody and everything God wanted to save. When the time for the flood was near, God told Noah to bring his whole family into the ark–his wife, his three sons, and the sons’ wives. God also told Noah to bring two of each animal, a male and a female. When all were in the ark, the rain began. The water would remain on the earth for 150 days. Then the ark landed on a big mountain. Noah sent out a raven, then a dove. He wondered if they would find land. Only the dove returned. A little later, Noah sent out the dove again. She brought back an olive leaf. This meant there was land again. The ground was dry. Noah and his family were very thankful this time was over. They praised God. God put a rainbow in the sky as a promise to never flood the whole earth again.
